A Year of Love

We've spoken of soul mates before, but this time I want to speak of something that is both similar and completely different at the same time: twin souls. The definition that most people apply to the term "soul mate" is more accurately the definition of what is referred to as a twin soul or twin flame. When you think of a soul mate, you usually think of the other half of your soul. The only other soul out there in the world that is searching for you as desperately as you are searching for it. We've already established, however, that that is not what a soul mate is. The soul most people are looking for is their twin.

I think, too, that when searching for the mate or twin to one's soul, most of us believe that it will complete us. That it will take the empty half of ourselves and fill it to capacity. If that were true and we did, indeed, need another to make us complete, then I've been lying to you this whole year. I've been telling you that your are enough. I've been insisting that you are whole and complete all by yourselves. I've flat out declared that you don't need anyone else to make you happy because true happiness comes from within. I've said that it's your job to make you happy, not your partner's. Or your kids' for that matter.

Did I deceive you?

According to the website Soul2Soul, "It is said that one does not meet their Twin Soul or Twin Flame until they have learned many lessons of love, loss and forgiveness through close soul mate relationships, that the heart is made resilient and strong through pain and loss, and must be so to face the intensity of being with the other half of their soul."

When one soul has learned the lessons that make it possible for him/her to be spiritually and emotionally whole, then and only then can one reconnect with their twin flame. I refer you to ninety-five percent of the posts on this blog to further echo this point.

I've been officially touting healthy self-esteem, self-love, self-acceptance and all other manner of self-appreciation for a year now. In addition to that, my loyal readers, I have brought you along on my own journey to self- completeness. You have laughed with me, cried with me. You have inspired me and been inspired by me. You have offered your love and support as often as I have offered mine to you.

For this, I thank you.

It has been a year of ups and downs, triumphs and tragedies. I'm so glad that each of you decided to come along for this ride.

In this next year and, dare I say, the rest of my years to come, I will endeavor to bring more peace, more love, more forgiveness, more tolerance, more positive energy to every soul I am able to touch. If I have touched your soul so far, I thank you for allowing me access to the most vulnerable parts of yourselves. Please know that each of you have touched my soul; whether in a small or big way is of no importance. When a person touches your soul, they become a part of you forever.

We are a part of each other forever. That means try as you might to stop me from scratching at the recesses of your brain, it ain't gonna happen.

So while I may not be your twin soul, I am one of your many soul mates and you are mine. I hope that each of you, as well as myself, is lucky enough to reconnect with your twin soul in this lifetime. Not because of the intense bond and unconditional, ego-free love that will unfold, but because you will have finally learned that you, all by yourself, are enough.

Until next time,
Feed on love, subsist on peace

P.S. Did I tell you I made the honor roll last quarter?

  1. congrats on making the honor roll. good job, you. ^_^

i was thinking about souls when i posted today, too, though not necessarily twin flames. one of my weird little non-secrets is that i believe i've encountered my twin flame in this life, even though this is not the life where we'll be together. (or i could just be nuts.)

thanks for sharing more of your thoughts. you're one of my very favorite bloggers. may your year take you to amazing places both within and outside of yourself. ^_^

  2. This is beautiful. As someone who hasn't been reading you for all that long, I can't wait to go back and peruse those links.

I love the idea that we have many stones to skip before we find our anchoring rock.

The connection of the soul is one of my favorite things about being here on this silly little planet.

  3. Wow. Just wow.

I had no idea you had this blog, just found it or I would have been here sooner. Well, maybe not. I was not in a good place the last few months so I probably would have remained under my rock anyways, but I digress.

First congrats on the Honor Roll, that's quite an accomplishment.

Re soulmates and Twin Flames. I done a bit of studying on these concepts myself, along with a whole bunch of soul searching. I'm pleased, and a bit surprised, to find we've come to many similar conclusions. I'm happy to find a kindred soul.

I respectfully submit however, that one CAN reconnect with that twin flame without having met those preconditions. However it doesn't generally end well at all (understatement of the year). Unless both are "spiritually and emotionally whole" the intensity of that energy can explode and make you both go down in flames. Yes, that just may be the voice of experience ;)

I will definitely be watching for your return.

  5. Lovkyne- Thank you, my friend! Great minds think alike, huh?

Annabelle- I'm a lover of soul connections, too. I'm still waiting for you to agree to do a guest post for me, but I'm a patient woman...I'm not going anywhere. :)

Mustang- I'm so happy that some of my "bad girl" followers are making their way over here to the good side. lol Over the past few weeks, I've come to agree with you about the twin flames. I hadn't experienced a twin flame relationship until recently and it is not what I expected.

Stephanie- Thank you so much and welcome! I appreciate anyone who willingly chooses to listen to my ramblings. lol
